The Story

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a renowned humanitarian and peacemaker, admired by world leaders and millions globally. But how did this journey begin? How did a single individual, without financial backing or substantial resources, spark such a significant movement?

This remarkable narrative of a man’s vision for improving humanity is shared through the eyes of a group of eight Americans. They were drawn to him when he was a young spiritual teacher from India and inadvertently laid the groundwork for this movement. This film delves into the venerable Indian tradition of the guru-disciple relationship, a concept seemingly forgotten in today’s fast-paced world where enlightenment is often sought hastily. What are the intricacies of this relationship, and what does it mean to be a disciple of an enlightened master? This narrative is told from the perspective of eight Western individuals who deeply admired their Indian guru, providing insights into this enduring bond, where the guru serves as a guide, mentor, and teacher, while the shishya, or disciple, follows with respect and dedication, aiming for higher spiritual knowledge and enlightenment.

A character-driven journey, FROM HEAD TO HEART explores how despite the challenges posed by shifting societal values, the essence of this sacred relationship remains, continuing to offer a profound and transformative path towards enlightenment and self-realization, celebrating the timeless connection between teacher and student.

“Art of Living has worked on programs that have been at the core of my public life; promoting peace, combating violence and drug addiction, empowering our youth. It has an incredible following that cuts through all religions, cultures and backgrounds, a very difficult thing to do in today’s world.”

— Joseph R. Biden, Fromer President of the United States of America
